OSG has introduced carbide drills with cooling for efficient drilling of deep holes up to a depth of 40xD and 50xD. The drills are included in the brand 'A Brand', which encompasses various high-performance tools made with the latest technological innovations. With ADO-40D, -50D drills, we achieve a drastic reduction in drilling time and processing costs.
The R-shaped flank grinding breaks chips into a compact, strongly coiled shape. The chips are without pointed extensions. These two characteristics enable smooth chip evacuation from deep holes. Compared to competing drills, they also have lower cutting forces.
The drill has a screw angle of 25°, which provides an optimal balance between effective chip evacuation and drill rigidity. Internal factory tests have shown that a 20° screw angle is insufficient and leads to chip jams and tool breakage. When increasing the angle to 30°, vibrations occur due to reduced core rigidity.
The drills are coated with OSG's nano coating EgiAs, which offers excellent wear resistance, thermal stability, and ensures a long tool life. They also have channels for the supply of cooling lubricants, as sufficient emulsion supply is crucial for deep drilling.
The main advantage of ADO-40D and ADO-50D drills is the extreme reduction in processing time. Compared to gun drills, ADO-50D drills provide significantly better hole straightness and up to 90% reduction in drilling time. This reduces machine hour costs. Calculations show that using ADO-50D drills can reduce drilling costs by up to 65% compared to gun drills.
