Solid carbide end mills for aluminum and copper processing AE-LNBD-N OSG

OSG has expanded the series of three-flute end mills (AE-TS-N, AE-TL-N, AE-VTS-N) for processing aluminum or non-ferrous metals with spherical end mills for deep groove machining or 'rib' machining marked with AE-LNBD-N. They are intended for precise machining of aluminum and Al-alloys (
The cutter radius is manufactured with extremely high tolerance, the radius tolerance up to 0.2 mm is + -0.002mm. The cutter shank is manufactured with high tolerance h4 (0 / -0.004), allowing precise and rigid clamping. Most competing cutters have shanks manufactured with tolerance h6.

The blade geometry is adapted for milling Al- and Cu-alloys. The machined surface on the workpiece is smooth and burr-free. Unlike conventional spherical end mills, AE-LNBD-N has a drop-shaped radius contour. The radius thus has a conical transition into the neck part of the cutter. This geometry shows its advantage when milling walls at a 90° angle. It enables point contact of the cutter with the workpiece, while a typical spherical end mill touches over a larger area. Point contact reduces vibrations during processing, resulting in a more precise and smooth machined surface.

The new DLC-IGUSS coating is developed for processing aluminum and copper and has excellent lubricating ability and resistance to built-up edges. AE-LNBD-N are available in dimensions from R 0.05 mm to R 3 mm.
